A Trip is a digital representation of a paper trip sheet to represent a request to transport one or more people from one Location to another. Being a digital object, it can be addressed, operated upon, monitored and managed end-to-end.
At the time of creation, when it is not assigned to a Driver, it is called a Manifest.
MOOVE assigns Trips to Drivers by computing the dispatch radius (time and distance) of the Driver from the first pick-up to ensure that the Trip can be started to guarantee
MOOVE senses and records all the events and data related to a Trip and presents it as a MOOVE Trip Manifest. The Trip Manifest is a digital object and maintains the current state of a Trip from assignment to acceptance to pick-up of Employees, Exceptions, to completion. It also stores all the events and metadata such as when the driver started the trip, when they arrived into the geo-fence when they communicated that they were at the pick-up location to the employee, when they checked-in an employee, etc.
A Trip is stateful and it records all events from its creation to fulfillment and it gets updated dynamically as it progresses. MOOVE maintains all the events and states of a Trip from creation to completion along with any Exceptions in the Status tab.
For example, the Trip above captures that the Driver is waiting at the first pick-up location and waiting for permission to mark the employee as no show and move on.
